The University of York was founded in 1963. Located in the city of Heslington, the main campus, 80 hectares in area, consists of faculties and academic buildings located close to each other. There are two permanent art galleries at the university. Several temporary art exhibitions and numerous sculptures are on the campus. In 2010, It was selected “The University of the Year” by the Times Higher Education Awards. It was ranked 12th by “The Guardian University Guide 2019”, the 22nd by “The Times and Sunday Times” in 2019, and 134th by “QS World University Rankings 2019”. It was awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize in Archaeology, Computer Science and Health Economics.
