University of Portsmouth was established in 1870 as Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art. Portsmouth is one of the sunniest regions in England, where famous writer Charles Dickens and the founder of “Sherlock Holmes”, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had lived. Located in the heart of the city, University hosts about 4,000 international students from more than 100 different countries. University of Portsmouth achieves the Highest Gold rating within the framework of Teaching Excellence (TEF). It was ranked 25 th place by The Guardian University Guide 2019 and The Complete University Guide 2019. More than 40% of its academic research is recognized internationally. As a result of the 2014 International Student Survey, students' satisfaction rate was at 88%.
