Established in 1964, Florida Atlantic University is part of the Florida State Universities system, which has 12 campuses. Main campus is located in Boca Raton. There are also several campuses in other cities of Florida (Dania Beach, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Jupiter, and Fort Pierce). The Florida Atlantic University, which has more than 30,000 students, offers more than 180 programs in 10 faculties; humanitarian sciences, natural sciences, medical science, nursing, finance, business, education, social work, architecture, engineering and computer science. As a research university, the Atlantic University of Florida was accredited by Carnegie Foundation for its education. Florida Atlantic University collaborates with other educational institutions and
creates new centers such as medical colleges, theater halls and sports stadium in the campus. Various organizations, such as jazz groups, theaters, chess and various video game clubs have been organized for students in campus. There are well-known persons such as Pennsylvania State University Consular Reformer Frank T. Brogan, NASA astronaut and American engineer Steven Swanson among the prominent graduates of the Florida Atlantis University.
